CHARACTER NAME: Harry Potter
SERIES: Harry Potter
CANON POINT: Before the events of Dudley's eleventh birthday
LOSS: Every time Harry tries to explain examples of the Dursley's cruelty to him, he finds himself speechless. If he tries to write it down, he finds himself physically unable. He can talk about them in a broad sense but nothing specific. To Harry this will be very frustrating as he will not be able to tell anyone about how bad his life has been.
ABOUT THE CHARACTER: Harry James Potter was born 31st July 1980. His parents, Lily and James Potter, sadly died on 31st October 1981 and Harry was flown by flying motorbike to Little Whinging, Surrey, to live with his aunt, uncle and cousin. For the next nine years, he was prodded and poked by his cousin, Dudley, lived in the cupboard under the stairs, and generally made to feel like he shouldn't even exist. His aunt, Petunia, and his uncle, Vernon, wanted to squash the magic out of him and make him normal, but this never happened as Harry was told he was a wizard on his eleventh birthday. But that's too far into the future.
Harry Potter at age ten, is still as loyal as he is at any other age you might see him at. He'll stick by his friends no matter what because they've chosen to stick with him. This stems from not being allowed friends in primary school due to Dudley bullying both him and anyone who tries to get close to him. This also explains his loneliness. He's never had the chance to make a real friend due to Dudley so he's generally alone and therefore an even easier target.
At home, Harry generally does what he's told because it's easier than arguing. It's better to fry some bacon or cook some eggs than spend a week locked up in his cupboard. He's quite hemmed in by his aunt and uncle but if left to flourish he would become happier, more confident and even slightly competitive, though he wouldn't mind losing as long as he had fun. Despite being so controlled, he still has a good heart and doesn't mind helping others.
Harry also has a good memory. He can remember the green light of his mother's death and the motorbike ride with Hagrid. The latter is something he keeps close to his heart because when he shared it with the Dursley's it caused too much tension. But even though, he can remember events of almost a decade passed, he doesn't turn his skill to his school work as this would lead to getting noticed which would lead to more bullying by his cousin and subsequent gang.
But even after all of this, Harry will still stand up for what he believes in. If magic exists, then he'll say so. If he doesn't understand why he's being punished, he'll say so. When he found himself on the roof of the school kitchen, he was in terrible trouble but he shouted at Uncle Vernon that he didn't understand why this had happened. And again when his hair grew back miraculously.
ABILITIES: Harry's only real extraordinary ability would be his underage magic. At his current canon point, he doesn't even know he has it and has nothing to control it with. The only time this would be an issue would be if Harry became very angry or very scared as the intense emotion would cause a physical and magical reaction which is always trying to help him. Examples of this are easily found in the first book of the series. Harry's only other magical talent is flying, passed down from his father, and could come up if told of his magical heritage and given a broomstick.
THIRD-PERSON WRITING SAMPLE: When the school bell rang, Harry trudged out of school slowly. Maybe if he took longer to walk home he would spend less time in his cupboard. Then again, Uncle Vernon would probably scold him for getting home after Dudley and that would result in more cupboard time. He sighed, resigning himself to keeping up with his fat cousin on the short walk home.
He was glad he was in his final year of primary school and he was allowed to walk home instead of getting picked up in the car. It gave him ten minutes of freedom, even if he did have to endure Dudley's company. But after so long living with him, he'd almost managed to drone out the incessant tormenting that had happened ever since he could remember. It was a shame he couldn't block out Uncle Vernon's yelling or Aunt Petunia's snapping. Especially when he got punished for something he hadn't done. Or worse, something Dudley had done. And this was the case today.
As soon as he set foot back in Number Four Privet Drive, he would be whisked away into his cupboard and locked in until dinner time. He would be given fifteen minutes to eat whatever had been cooked and then, without dessert, told to go back to his cupboard. And he would stay there until breakfast the next morning unless he had to use the bathroom.
They rounded the corner and Harry again was tempted to slow down but kept pace with his cousin and sighed ever so slightly. He really hated Dudley today. He couldn't believe he'd been blamed for knocking over that vase.
FIRST-PERSON JOURNAL SAMPLE: I currently play Harry at Mayfield and I'm hoping this introduction post, as it has many different characters and lots of Harry, will satisfy the requirement. If not then I will write something else for you. LINK
INTENT: Harry's always been someone I've wanted to play in a game but since most of the games I'm already in I play James (his father) it makes it hard. Paradisa attracts me because the premise is original and I love the loss idea. And with there already being a James Potter here, I'd love to see the dynamic.
